The Wadiyar Center for Architecture is a striking 2-acre campus that seamlessly blends heritage with contemporary design. This vibrant educational hub elegantly integrates two historic buildings—the library and the administrative block—into its fabric, ensuring that the campus retains its rich architectural legacy.

These heritage structures are thoughtfully preserved and prominently featured, offering a bridge between past and present.

Complementing these historic elements are modern learning spaces designed with an open-plan layout that promotes interaction and creativity. At the heart of the campus is a spacious central courtyard, a versatile area that fosters a sense of community and serves as a venue for various events and classes. This open courtyard is not merely an aesthetic feature but a functional space that enhances the educational experience, allowing for both formal gatherings and informal social interactions.

Wadiyar Center for Architecture - Mysuru

This exhibition was  conceptualised as a way to put forth the method and medium of practice at a for architecture (AFA) which has primarily been that of model making, since the establishment of the office some twelve years ago. Practice for AFA is understood more in the form of an atelier or a work-shop which is known for a certain way of doing things,approach to questions, craft, and other related qualities. Like most good ateliers AFA aspires to produce ideas for good architecture and a method and modality of putting these ideas forward has been the physical model. 

The photo series aimed to capture the curiosity and interest of diverse individuals. Regardless of background, age, profession, or group, everyone perceives art and architecture with the same wonder and appreciation.

Make / Believe exhibition : A for Architecture

Located on the banks of the Godavari River, the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Nashik is a prominent pink stone Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. It features completely hand-carved designs by the artists and saints of the sanstha. The temple serves as a center for community service, spiritual learning, and cultural preservation. An auspicious place where devotees can participate in daily rituals, festivals, and special events, making it a significant spiritual and cultural hub in the region.

At the Lepakshi Temple, visitors are greeted by a magnificent sculpture of Lord Bala Ganesha, setting the tone for the awe-inspiring artistry within. This temple is celebrated for its intricate sculptures, including a captivating collonade lining the passageways. It's a true treasure trove of timeless art, boasting famous frescos and mural paintings.
Built in the Vijayanagara architectural style, the temple houses remarkable features such as Asia's largest fresco on the ceiling of the ardha mantapa. Within the temple grounds, an impressive granite boulder stands to the east, adorned with carvings of a multi-hooded serpent sheltering a Linga beneath its coils.

The building prioritizes the experience of moving through its spaces, which are designed to vary in size and shape, creating an interesting journey for visitors. By blending the landscape with the structure, the building has soft edges and doesn't feel imposing despite being made of stone and concrete. From the open campus to partially covered corridors and finally to enclosed areas, the building offers different experiences at various points, making it feel light and elegant.
